MAY 2018 – ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

Dawson Holbrook – Baseball May AofM

Baseball:  Dawson Holbrook  11th Grader Current GPA:  2.00 Varsity

“It is a pleasure nominating Dawson as our Varsity Baseball Player of the Month.  It has been a joy watching Dawson develop as a very competitive pitcher for the Grizzlies.  Dawson is leading our team in almost every pitching category, and he still has not reached his full potential.  Every time he takes the mound our team is confident he will keep us in the game and give us an opportunity for a win.  Another exciting thing about Dawson will be watching him throw next year for us, as he is only a Junior.  It is a great honor nominating Dawson Holbrook for this award.”   Coach MacLennan

Jose Virgen Cuenca – BTennis May AofM

Boys’ Tennis:   Jose Virgen Cuenca  11th Grader Current GPA: 3.00 Varsity

“Jose has been a surprising addition to the team, demonstrating what patience and commitment can do.  Despite this being Jose’s first year on the team, he moved up to Varsity quickly.  He started as a sub with no playing time, instead of starting on JV.  He bought into the idea of the team first and eventually cracked the rotation.  He earned his first start this week at singles and earned a record of 4-2, including a sweep yesterday going 3-0.”   Coach Cortez

“I nominate Joshua Hernandez as Boys’ Track May AofM because Mr. Hernandez always comes to practice every day with great positive energy.  I have coached him for the past three years and I have seen him improve year after year.  From my perspective, Mr. Hernandez is a great athlete and friend to his team mates.  He works hard every day and watching him practice is very enjoyable to see.  I am honored to have coached him as an athlete.”   Coach Sok
