ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to our September 2019 Athletes of the Month!  We are extremely proud of our Grizzlies listed below as their coach has chosen them for their standout athletic abilities, excellent sportsmanship and leadership skills.  Way to go Grizzlies!  Thank you to all of our chosen September athletes and please keep up the great work over the course of the fall 2019 season.

 

Genesis Velazquez – Cheer Sept. AofM

Traditional Cheerleading:  Genesis Velazquez  11th Grader Current GPA:  3.16 Varsity

“Genesis is being nominated because she has earned the recognition.  Genesis worked extremely hard last year on JV, earned

a spot on the competition floor with varsity and pushed herself to earn a permanent varsity position this year.  Genesis is a

hard worker while remaining humble throughout all of her accomplishments.  Genesis also maintains a positive attitude

and pushes her teammates during practice.  She brings great energy to the mat and we are proud to have her on this team.”

Adalberto DeJesus – BXC Sept AofM

Boys’ Cross-Country:  Adalberto DeJesus  10th Grader Current GPA:  3.83 Varsity

“Adalberto continues to work hard to be a leader on the varsity team.  He is just a sophomore and has already become one of

the top runners on the team.  He is always at practice and is always ready to give 100%.  Academically, he also performs at

a high level.  We expect great things from him this season and in the years to come.”             Coach Rocha-Rodriguez

Monica Rodriguez – GXC Sept AofM 

Girls’ Cross-Country: Monica Rodriguez  12th Grader Current GPA: 2.83 Varsity

“Monica has proven to be wise beyond her years.  She has earned the title of team captain through her effort, dedication, and ambition over the last 3 years and for going strong in this her senior year.  Mon is always willing to spend the extra time and go the extra mile, sometimes literally, for her team.  She is an exemplary athlete and scholar with a consistently high gpa.  As a leader, she believes in creating a democracy and brings out leadership in her peers allowing for them to one day be like her.  Monica, thank  you for all that you do for our Godinez X-C team!”  Coach Valdez

Juan Carrillo – Football Sept AofM

Football:  Juan Carrillo  12th Grader Current GPA: 3.33 Varsity

“Juan is a great leader on and off the field.  He is a model student-athlete who exemplifies servant leadership because he puts the betterment of the team ahead of his own interest.”                                                                                   Coach Hernandez

Maria Mendoza – GTennis Sept AofM

Girls’ Tennis:  Maria Mendoza  11th Grader Current GPA: 3.33 Varsity

“Maria has improved tremendously in making the jump from JV to Varsity.  Over the summer she has demonstrated dedication to improving.  She works diligently EVERY day to improve as a player, and is a great teammate.  She serves as a great example to teammates and players on the lower levels, becoming one of the better players on the team.”                        Coach Cortez

Lupita Nieto – GVolleyball Sept AofM

Girls’ Volleyball:  Lupita Nieto  11th Grader Current GPA:  3.83 Varsity

“As the only returning varsity starter, Lupita is becoming an exceptional leader everyday she steps on the volleyball court.

Her commitment to her team shows in her work ethic and her teammates are inspired because of it.  Lupita’s dedication is highly recognized and valued.”                                                                                                                                      Coach Nixon

Mekhi Jones – BPolo Sept AofM

Boys’ Water Polo:  Mekhi Jones  10th Grader Current GPA: 3.83 Varsity

“Mekhi has great sportsmanship and has shown his dedication to the sport by always working really hard to get better with each practice session.  He is always pumped, ready to go and is always willing to take on new challenges in the pool.  He’s a great teammate and always has a positive attitude that he uses to help everyone to get through tough swim sets and polo drills.”
